WINNIPEG, Manitoba, May 22 (UPI) -- Canadian production of the teen horror film "Bad Meat" has shut down with 12 shooting days left in Winnipeg because a U.S. investor has money problems.
The $7 million film was 18 days into shooting by Buffalo Gal Pictures when the news came, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp., reported.
"Of course with gallows humor, everyone's calling it 'Dead Meat' right now," Phyllis Laing, president of the production company, told the CBC.
Laing said she was optimistic production would resume at some point but her immediate concern was ensuring that the 80 people working on the film get paid.
The film is directed by Rob Schmidt and stars Mark Pellegrino in a tale of counselors at a youth boot camp who become savage cannibals after eating contaminated meat, the report said.
