BUENOS AIRES, May 21 (UPI) -- Argentine farmers have agreed to call off their weeks-long strike and meet federal officials for talks, government officials said.

The country's main farming groups said they would sit with officials from Argentine President Cristina Kirchner's office to discuss their grievances with the country's export tax on some food crops, La Nacion reported Wednesday.

In April, Argentine farmers began protests that blocked roads and crippled the country's agricultural sector.
