NEW YORK, May 19 (UPI) -- Sen. Barrack Obama fired back Monday at what he portrayed as an early round of attack ads using a statement made by his wife, Michelle.

The Democratic presidential candidate said on ABC's "Good Morning, America" a Republican ad uses her controversial statement about being proud of her country "for the first time in my adult life" in order to raise doubts about her patriotism.

"To try to distort or to play snippets of her remarks in ways that are unflattering to her I think is just low-class," Obama said.

"Good Morning America" said the ad appeared only on the Internet in Tennessee.
