VANCOUVER, Wash., May 19 (UPI) -- A rescue team Monday found two girls, 7 and 10, who were lost during a family hike in southwest Washington, authorities said.

The girls appeared to have no injuries but were examined by medics while rescuers worked on an "exit strategy," which they said might take several hours, The Columbian of Vancouver reported.

The girls had been been missing in a wilderness about eight miles from the small town of Yacolt in Clark County.

The girls' father and brother had been rescued earlier in tre day after being located by a spotter plane in the Yacolt Burn State Forest, not far from where the girls were found.

The father told authorities his daughters had water in their backpacks but didn't have flashlights or proper clothing for cold nighttime temperatures.

Officials said the family apparently traveled the Tarbell Trail beyond Hidden Falls.

The Volcano Rescue Team led the search effort, aided by Clark County sheriff's deputies.
