DENVER, May 19 (UPI) -- Two former congressmen are among 14 contenders vying to be the Libertarian presidential nominee heading into the party's national convention in Denver.

The party's biennial convention will be Thursday through Monday in Denver, which also will be the site of the Democratic National Convention in August. The party's presidential nominee will be selected Sunday.

Among the candidates for the Libertarian nomination are former GOP Rep. Bob Barr and former Alaska Sen. Mike Gravel. Barr joined the Libertarian Party in 2006 and has been on the Libertarian National Committee since. Bar joined the party in March.

"This is going to be a watershed year for the Libertarian Party," Andrew Davis, Libertarian Party national media coordinator, said in a news release. "Voter dissatisfaction with the major two parties is at an all-time high, and people are looking to the Libertarian Party to provide a third choice on the ballot in 2008."
