LOS ANGELES, May 22 (UPI) -- U.S. filmmaker Martin Scorsese reportedly will not be directing a planned Bob Marley documentary due to scheduling conflicts.

The Marley film is set for release Feb. 6, 2010, which is the 65th anniversary of the late iconic reggae singer's birth.

Variety.com said Jonathan Demme will be taking Scorsese's place on the project, which is being produced by the Marley family's Tuff Gong Pictures and Steve Bing's Shangri-La Entertainment.

"I am thrilled and humbled by this extraordinary opportunity to participate in fashioning a motion picture that can serve as a worthy vessel for the spiritual and musical brilliance of Bob Marley," Demme said in a statement.
