WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., May 19 (UPI) -- Florida State receiver Preston Parker pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges Monday and was also suspended for the Seminoles' first two games next season.
Parker pleaded guilty to carrying a concealed weapon and marijuana possession. He was order to pay $243 in court costs; spend a day in a jail, which was covered by time served, and serve 12 months probation that includes periodic drug tests. He was also ordered to perform 50 hours of community service.
"It's been made very clear to him, to his family, to me through the university that he's out of chances," Parker's attorney, Jason Weiss, told The Palm Beach (Fla.) Post.
Parker was arrested April 21 in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and charged with a felony for carrying a concealed .45-caliber handgun and a misdemeanor for possession of marijuana.
He issued a statement through Weiss in which he apologized.
Parker, as a sophomore last season, led Florida State in receptions with 62 and touchdown catches with five. The university said he would miss the Seminoles' games Sept. 6 versus Western Carolina and Sept. 13 against Chattanooga.
