ANNUAL BEACH WALK
Since 1980, Year of the Coast, Wildlife Club members have walked the beach on New Year's Day "in memory of clean water and marine life". We meet at 11:00 am at the bathhouse in Fort Macon State Park, and then walk to Beaufort inlet.
From the rock jetty a sealed bottle is cast overboard; it bears a message of good cheer for the New Year from the Carteret County Wildlife Club. Over the years only two bottles have been reported found.
After the beach walk everyone has lunch at Captain Bill's Restaurant on the Morehead City waterfront. The public is cordially invited to join us as we bring in the New Year celebrating our marine and coastal environments.
