The Carteret County Wildlife Club has been selected to receive the prestigious 2006 Governor's Award in Conservation from the North Carolina Wildlife Federation. The Club receives the award in the category of "Affliate clubs with fewer than 100 members."

Sue Huntsman, Wildlife Club president in 2006, compiled and wrote the application nominating the club. The document includes letters of support from Dr. Richard Lancia who coordinates camp scholarships for biology students at North Carolina State University, and from Janice Allen of the Coastal Land Trust.
