     Meetings are normally held the first Wednesday of the each month. No meeting in May.
     The public is invited. No reservations are required

June—Jeff Vinton, PhD has traveled to the Pacific Rim and developing nations around the world educating people on the latest procedures in oral surgery

July—Lionel Gilgo, Beaufort will talk about growing up on Portsmouth Island

Aug—Kevin Duffus will discuss Nazi u-boats sinking ships off the outer banks in WWII 


Sept—Ben Casey, Arapahoe will discuss life on the waterways 


Oct—David Nateman, PhD and Director of the NC Maritime Museum will talk about heritage tourism 

Nov—Russell Wilson, superintendent of the Cape Lookout Nat’l Seashore will speak on his park service experiences

 

Concerts at the Fort

Summer Concerts & Ice Cream Social Sponsored by Parker Pontiac—Buick—GMC and Parker Honda of Morehead City.

     All concerts at the fort are FREE and start at 7 PM and end at 8 PM . 
        Bring lawn chair or blanket.  Picnic Baskets (non-alcoholic) welcome.

Musket firing demonstrations and living history

1st North Carolina Volunteers will be doing living history at the fort this year on: September 22-23.  The program goes from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day as an ongoing presentation, with different segments at 30 minute intervals. 
Admission is free.

 Civil War reenactments
        1st North Carolina Volunteers             

       A Civil War Reenactment will be performed throughout each  day, starting with the April 14 1861 capture of the Fort by the Beaufort Harbor Guards at 10 AM. Captain Josiah Pender will demand  the surrender of the United States fort from the its lone caretaker, Sgt.William Alexander.
        Throughout both days, there will be flag talks, uniform talks, women’s dress talks, musket firing and lots of military drilling.. The public is invited to come to Fort Macon between 10 and 4 and re-live some of its history. There is no charge.
