Dialup |
At one time, everyone
thought that 28.8K and 33.6K would be the end of the line. To get
higher speeds, you'd need radically different modems that wouldn't
work over standard phone lines. The advent of 56K modems has changed
all that. 56K modems now offer two different options, V.90 and V.92-
more details are below! |

V.90 Access |
V.90 was approved
by the International Telecommunications Union for transmitting data
downstream to
modems at 56 Kbps (thousand bits per second). The V.90
standard was arrived at by combining the
x2 technology from US
Robotics (now part of 3Com) and the K56flex technology from
Rockwell. See our

V.92 Access |
V.92 is the new dial-up
modem specification from the International Telecommunications Union
that introduces new features providing convenience and performance
for the modem user. It offers faster upstream (upload),
Modem-On-Hold, and Quick Connect. See our V.92
